With the launch of IRNSS-1E on 20th January 2016, India has take a step closer towards completing the 7 satellite orbital constellation that will enable the implementation of the IRNSS (Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System).
The system, also known as GAGAN (GPS-aided geo augmented navigation) is a regional system designed around a simplified architecture of seven spacecraft instead of the larger traditional constellation of 30 or so needed for global coverage.
On board each of the in orbit assets are TRAK S & C-band MICPuck isolators supplied to ISAC in Bangalore.
This is is third satellite based navigation system that TRAK has contributed to the others being GLONASS and GALILEO IOV.
The constellation is expected to be completed by once IRNSS-1F, the sixth and IRNSS-1G, the seventh satellites launch in March and April of 2016.
