TRAK is pleased to announce new contracts for the supply of Ku & Ka-band coaxial and waveguide isolators for Telesat Vantage 19. The new contracts mark a milestone for TRAK as the first of these product types to be ordered by this particular customer.
TeleSat Vantage 19 (TV19) will be the second of a new generation of Telesat satellites optimized to serve the types of bandwidth intensive applications increasingly being used across the satellite industry and will host two payloads, in Ku and Ka-bands, covering a region encompassing South America to Northern Canada
The Space qualified products, which will be delivered over the summer of 2016, expands the list of customers using the solid coaxial type to 25 and comes almost exactly 6 years after the first solid body coaxial flight model isolators were delivered in 2010. To date almost 14,000 of the solid coaxial devices have been supplied for space applications.
The products are variants of TRAK’s range of solid coaxial isolators and circulators have been designed to allow the customer to use these in a variety of equipments aboard the payload.
Smiths Interconnect, Microwave Business Unit, President Rob Torsiello commented, “this is an exciting new chapter for TRAK and a well earned reward for the 12 months of hard work by the team that has lead to the receipt of these first of type orders“.
In addition to ferrite isolators and circulators and waveguide passive assemblies the Smiths Microwave Components Business Unit supplies board level resistive components, packaged assemblies and cable interconnect to a broad range of high reliability customers in 26 different countries. The group, which includes TRAK Microwave Limited and Florida RF/ EMC Technology have supplied a combined 650,000 flight qualified parts into over 600 payloads spanning the past quarter century.
