Solar Probe Plus

TRAK has successfully delivered 40W WR34, Ka Band Circulators and matching remote terminations to Johns Hopkins, Applied Physics laboratories, (JHAPL) for the Solar Probe Plus mission.

Solar Probe Plus is man’s first Mission to the Nearest Star, where it will enter the Sun’s atmosphere (or corona) and come closer to the Sun than any previous spacecraft where Solar Probe Plus will employ a combination of in situ measurements and imaging to achieve the mission’s primary scientific goal: to understand how the Sun’s corona is heated and how the solar wind is accelerated.

The devices, which operate at ~31 GHz, are based on a higher power isolator variant operating at 140W CW which has previously been qualified and supplied for the the ESA Solar Orbiter and Euclid missions.
